How to be successful, part 2

Here are some simple suggestions I have discovered with many great people of the great times to make life more valuable, fulfilling and healthy, goal by goal. And I also happened to count to six. You can take the best out of them to your life if you wish.

1. Think good, think about your values.
Being positive pays of. I know there are ups and downs in life and it is normal. Enjoy the feelings when they come, but don't sink into them, be in the now honestly admitting the facts. It makes more space to accept life in a positive way.
My childhood was lacking a good self-esteem and that feel good factor.
But what is great about these things, is that when you hit the bottom, there´s one way to go if you wish, and that´s up! I grew so sick of my life I actually grew to think it better. I started to think what´s really important to me and what are the motives behind all this life around me.
Read some books, listen to your motives, remember the times you felt purely happy. Where you perhaps serving others? Then write your worries away. Write your values and goals clear and save them in your diary. Develop your wisdom.
Everything can be learned if you will.
By knowing not everything is the way it has always seemed and thinking outside of the box I realized how much I can do and expect from myself without feeling the world is on my shoulders. I begin to realize who I want to be rather than who I and the people around me through I was.
You can also change the way people see themselves. Just use your imagination and love to treat the people around you as responsible human beings. It opens up doors for them and for you.
Without being one of those many self development books, one of the best books about developing yourself I have read recently is The seven habits of highly effective people by Stephen R. Covey.
I started to write this article, but as I pumped into the book I had to finish it and write the suggestions part again to make it more sense and clear. That book seemed to come to my way just in the right time!

2. Exercise.
Mind needs work, but also body.
If you workout you can feel the difference in your energy levels. What ever you do in your life you begin to manage better, your spine and your self-esteem grows.
Stretching before and after workout relaxes and warms up the muscles for a stronger action.
Endurance training makes your heart pump blood faster and makes your lungs stronger. Building muscle strength is important if you work with a job your muscles strength is needed. Only when you go to extreme and push yourself to your limits your muscle strength will grow. You may see the results within two days. Remember to start slowly and do the movements slowly so you build your body stronger instead of harming it. And this same goes to your emotional strength. The more you put yourself through, the more capable you are dealing with difficult situations. And remember that you can't jump from A to Z. You have to work your way through the alphabets. Delevop your willpower. If you don't like to exercise, try to think of a physical hobby that suits to your body and mind, in the future as well. You´ll get used to it if you just begin do it without pushing it for later. And f it´s hard to get started a good personal trainer may help.

3. Fuel for the body.
Exercise directs fuel into right places of your body. Thus it is important to eat well.
Eat as seasonal and as organic as you get in the place you live. Processed food is many times lacking that important nutrition your body graves for. That can, in fact, make your immune system weaker by time.
I am dealing with low immune system mostly due to the amount of antibiotics and a lack of bodywork during my childhood. By eating lactic acid bacteria has helped me grown a bit stronger body along with D-vitamin, which we obviously don´t get that much in Finland.
Also certain spices, ginger, turmeric and cinnamon for example, are good to boost your immune system and help you deal with different diseases.
Green veggies, root vegetables, fruits or berries has a lot of vitamins and they make your mind fresh.
Good carbohydrates like oat, quinoa and brown rice keeps your energy levels stable and bowels working better along with good omega fats, which is best eaten in organic eggs, avocados, ghee (clarified butter), etc. Eating locally you make sure your choices are environmental and body friendly. And remember, that too much can be too much in every part of life, like with proteins.
Game meat is always better than processed to get good fats for example. If you move and use your muscles you need more protein more. Or you can well do with vegetarian diet by eating lentils, tofu, seeds, nuts, etc. It depends on your body type.
If you have any problems with health or are interested to learn more, I recommend talking with a good nutritionist. That´s where I started my journey to heal my body and to understand the world of Ayurveda.

4. Relaxation.
Relaxation is important to recover.
Arnold knows it, and I feel it as well. It is not great to work your butt off in the gym if you only slept couple of hours or are in a flu. You only get yourself more sick, because exercise lowers your immune system temporarily.
It is said that sleeping from 10pm to 2am is the best time to recover from the day and renew the body cells. During the winter time I am still learning to sleep faster, like Arnold puts it. Also the darkness factor we experience in Finland during the winter time help me to sleep long. Going to bed earlier and waking up to the sun would also help.
Sleeping is the normal way to let your body recover, but there are also other relaxation techniques, like deep breathing and meditation, massage, hot bath, etc. Though, these techniques don't replace the normal good night sleep, they might help you to relax and thus sleep better.
Make the place your rest peaceful for your mind ad separate from other action.

5. Connecting with life around.
When you connect socially and emotionally with people, animals nature or even with the music, you are able to reach far in your work or private life. You know you have your place and you belong here. You are here and so you exist to people. And you are able do the best you can to make life worth living. Just go through your head to know what you want to make your life about and how. If you have right motives, principles and you feel safe within, you begin to succeed, you begin to think with your heart.

6. Excitement, imagination and reason.
Isn´t it great to be excited about something? Don´t think about it, but rather feel and act upon it. Creation is what comes deep inside. When you do it, you are in the moment enjoying it.
Thinking too much never gets you anywhere. But the right amount of intuition, planning and knowing is needed, of course.
The reason is more important when you start to make goals to put your imagination and excitement into action. Learning how to make those things important to you work in this life makes life easier and there is more time to create your deepest vision.

In the end it´s about finding what success, happiness and being healthy means to you.
Here´s some more inspiration from a great, young mind: Logan Laplante.

How to be successful, part 1

I don´t mean that superficial success, but that inner success, that helps us living life to the fullest and healthiest. The kind of life that does not take away from anybody, but rather gives.
I found these "rules" inspirational.

Arnold´s rules about success.
1. ”Trust in yourself.”
Take a minute to think about your happiness, values, goals and ask yourself: ”Deep, deep down in your heart, what motivates me, what inspires me, what makes me happy?”
2. ”Break some rules.”
Nobody ever achieved something by just following all the rules.” I don´t say you should not follow the laws, but you can be creative. I am sure you find your way once you have your heart, soul and reason in it. Sometimes you might have to stop learning and invest to thinking how to do things to make them work better.
3. ”Don´t be afraid to fail.”
Many things has not happened, because we have been afraid to fail. ”Failing” can also be the one thing that makes you work harder, or the one thing that makes you realize your limits. But if you do not try, you never know your limits.
If you had only one year to live life before you die, would you be afraid to live life to the fullest?
4. ”Ignore the ones that say never.”
Don´t believe if somebody says to you ”you can´t”. They don´t know it, though they might be right. But do you really want to take the risk to not do it just because they might be right? They don´t know what you know and have been through so far. Just do it, make the decision.
5. ”Work hard.”
Anything that you always wanted just does not show up to your door one day. Well, at least it is very unlike. You need to work. And working hard not even get you closer to your goals, but it also makes you feel good! There will most likely be those things you don´t like doing in the ”working hard” part. But after a while they get easier.
Start slowly, set up small goals, do whatever keeps you going and remember to reward yourself once in a while. It´s the journey that makes life worth living. The question is what can you do right now to help you with your long term plan.
6. ”Give something back.”
Pass on the good.
I have an example.
I was staying at my friends place. A sweetheart, never asked me to do any housework, but I did. Not because I feel I should, but because I enjoy washing dishes and keeping things tidy. And as he kept a good care of his house, I treated it the same kind of respect. That is how I care, and that is what I want to leave behind. Not the image of me, but a place to feel good.
How do you like people to remember you after you moved on? What do you wan´t to leave behind?

Arnold Schwarzenegger, a bodybuilder, actor and a politic.

Thank you Arnold for being a good source of inspiration for me in the gym!

Vaikka samankaltaisia tarinoita olisi miljoona. Juuri sinä olet oman tarinasi luoja. Elät vain omannäköistäsi elämää.
Se on lahja.
Ajatuksemme juoksu on samankaltainen. Me molemmat myös nautimme juoksemisesta.

Asfaltteja on monenlaisia. Niin myös kenkiä, ja ihmisiä.
Ja se, että joskus miehetkin käyttävät korkokenkiä.
Minusta paras joululahja on omannäköinen. Juuri sellainen kuin sinä olet.

Finding a home

Sometimes picking a house can be more than confusing.

Sometimes you are not quite sure what it is that you need right now in that perfect house of yours, but when you look enough houses, you come to a conclusion.
Sometimes you know exactly what you need from the house to be able set your life. And you might find it, but the feeling of a home is not there yet.
Sometimes you enter a house, and you got the feeling of a home. Even all the standards don’t mach. Yet.
Or maybe you start to build your own house. You have your own standards and feelings.
In rare occasions you are not even looking for a home, but it finds you, sort of, when you suddenly stand on the doorway everything fits. And you move in.

Whichever the houses you choose, you make a decision between feeling and reason. The house that seems perfect outside can give a bad feeling or no feeling at all. But you can start building the feeling of home to that place. Then you have the other house with the feeling, but less comforts. It´s easy to enter that home, but it might need some fixing outside. Both of the options are good; finding both of them in one packet can be hard.  And making your own house completely from the scratch you have to be very sure to build your foundations strong, lasting and with love so that it´s easy to enter and feel like home. And in all the cases you have to step out from your own door way once in a while, not to desire other homes, but to look an inspiration to yours. You´ll attract more of what you have around you. And you keep your home fit, as long as the feeling´s there.  And if it´s time to move out and move on, make sure the value is higher. For others it might be just what they are looking for.

Finding a house; it´s like finding a man in your life. Keeping the house; it´s a relationship. Sometimes it lasts for a lifetime and sometimes letting go is a part of life. But while it´s there, keep it well.

Olemme toistemme heijastuksia

Asettuminen
Asetuttuani takaisin kotikaupunkiini olen huomannut olevani osa odotuksia, jota ympäriltäni satelee.

Defining your nature

What does defining life mean?
Maybe it is something we learn from our surroundings.

You can always believe what your mother says and do as your parents told, but you don’t learn life in that way. It might be true what they say but once you explore and test your boundaries you realize there is so much more than what they taught you. It is like believing the first local person you meet in a new country. They only can offer their help from their own perspective, but if you don’t go and ask his neighbor you only see one ankle for the same situation. The best teacher in life as well as in traveling is you and your observations in life.

One of the best ways to break the rules is to do something completely different if there’s no harm in anyone else and if you do it within respect for the new culture. You never know for example if you can hitch-hike in India unless you have tried. Most of the people you meet don’t even understand what it means, but you can still try. I would try everything three times. That goes in hitch-hiking, eating three chocolate cakes in one night, smoking a joint even if it gave me headache in the first couple times, believing an Indian taxi driver and even dancing tango with Sikh (Sikh is a follower of Sikhinism).

Life should be enjoyable for all beings, but how do we know what we can have, be or do if we never gross the boarder. Though, there is really nothing we have to do or be to be loved and complete right now; still, just being is not of a active human nature. It is, though, highly appreciated, but modesty in all. That’s why we have so many extensions to try out all the great things in world.

Love, each moment. Love your neighbor’s point of views, love yours as well. And give space for others to be as they are.
After all, you define how you see things around and inside you. Some might need your help to see themselves in a better way.

Once upon a time on a toilet seat of a three aisle-airplane to India--- A realization of life.

What bad can happen if you just trust yourself in the hands of the present moment? One may call it this trust as trusting to the Universe, to the God or to the faith. But something great is in that power.

One morning it just happened like some moments and days ago. It doesn’t matter that even after those moments I still had parts of the ego, parts of fear back, and it doesn’t matter if I occasionally still have those moments of ego back, but it has a huge importance in the life of a human that I really experienced what it is to see all the people in the world as my friends and feel love towards every being no matter how lost or mean they are. They are still a bit lost, but I do not worry. My job here in earth is to enjoy every moment of this life. And one morning couple days ago I really understood the meaning of it after reading the last chapter of Tomi Astikainen’s book Mind Your Elephant.
I went out having plans to go sightseeing, but I just started to cry in the metro or St. Petersburg, not out of sadness, but out of love. I couldn’t stop smiling. And I just decided to not stick with my plans because it seemed to be more important that day to ride in the metro and just smile to the people. So I did. I picked randomly a person and started following him to where ever he went. And when I finally lost sight of him I found myself somewhere in the outskirts of St. Petersburg taking photos and smiling to life, smiling to the moment that gave me the gift of life and love.

Few days after I realized just how much I had given up in order to give in to whatever happens. I took out of my laptop in the darkness of the falling night in the airplane that is on its way to India. I started to feel what the country is teaching to so many people even before I arrived to my destination.
Can you believe all the great things, all the small moment that you encounter if you just stop judging the situation and start being in the moment? Trust yourself a bit here. I found myself smiling thinking back to all those small signs universe gave me. I call them signs, because I choose to believe they are. Just like an atom that has been split but still rotating in the same direction with the other part. Isn’t that great! So I choose to believe in non accidents because of this particular scientific phenomenon.

I sat there in the toilet of the airplane and smiled to the current situation. Not long ago I was asking to myself in the lounge of the airport what more can I wish for but to feel this incredible freedom of not owning anything? It made me want cut my jeans, leave my backpack (which I still obviously not do because I love the laptop and I love to write and take photos to be able to share my happiness with all of you) and just yell out loud how much I loved life.

I know in India people are smiling and happy because one of the greatest Buddhist teachings are that whatever happens, it is in the arms of the Universe. So if we worry, it doesn’t help a thing because we all have a lesson to learn in life to be able to get closer to the Nirvana. Where ever we are heading to, I know the heaven is already here, on earth, in our hearts. And we learn it when we separate ourselves from our thoughts and start observing and taking in the current situation as it is, giving chance to the chance, giving chance to the moment giving chance to the person next to you as it was your best friend; to be there for him or her; to be totally honest in your mind and towards him, but also being polite enough to listen to his teachings even if you already understand them in your heart.

So, what more could I possibly wished for when I was totally free of my possessions and smiling to the realization of life? I found myself in the two aisle-airplane that I hadn’t been since 2002. And as I was taking a picture to my mom to send my greetings I found myself talking to my fellow traveler which is no by the way leaning on my shoulder and snoring. Few hours before he started to snore we were talking about the Great Spirit Indian people have. He started talking about his aerophobia and offered me some Ukrainian vodka and chocolate. I couldn’t refuse. I felt like he needed it as much as I needed him in my life to show me the incredibility of what more happiness can possibly happen. He turned out to be a Bollywood actor and a diplomat who was more than willing to invite me to Bollywood as his friend. Not that it has such a great meaning in life. I don’t care less if he’d be a millionaire or a normal business man as long as he was happy and as long as we realized to be friends. I don’t even care that what he spoke was just because he was afraid of the take off and had been drinking because of that. I don’t care the fact that most likely he wanted something more from me than friendship or even if his greatest fear of the airplane crash come true in this flight (which obviously didn’t happen) just as long as he is there on my side snoring and knowing we are here for each other. That is love.

So it seemed by finally realizing that there is nothing to hold us back, but our thoughts of being separate from others, I found was able to see the signs of the life I was living in. I saw everybody as my friends, and if there was money before to count my experiences and the cost of them, there were no numbers anymore. No age and no time. Like there is no time and no money in India =D Everything just happens and you start seeing signs and opportunities everywhere even if you had been robbed and had no money. Because if we’d all be friend no matter what we’d believe in would money really make a difference? I know it’s a fact that we’d only start appreciating all life around s and start finally doing something that we love doing and also helping others to find their calling in life. There would be no enemies, no boundaries, no poverty, and there could be enough for everybody because then everybody would see that the amount of things (like money) would not bring happiness but to find the happiness in that moment would suddenly make all the sense, since all the people would be in our side to help us, to love us.

And that is what I realized while walking to the airplane toilet with a huge smile on my face while looking at all the people smiling and hugging their spouses, their kids and mothers or even when they were looking at somewhere in the future as if they’d be waiting to the life to finally start in India after this flight. I even said a compliment about the great food they offered in the airplane to another fellow traveler who looked at me in astonishment. Airplane food good? I love what has been given. I love the food in hospitals, in development countries. Yes, it might not have been made with love but still, I appreciate it. I even found out a new taste combination while spreading jam on the fried potato slices while assuming it was herring. With a hint of pepper and salt I, by accidentally, found out something quite interesting that I will try again! Why not. It is all in our imagination and in our body what we like and can create! How can you say if you like it or not if you’ve never tasted!

I found incredible peace in this single moment of taking a deep breath and listening to what my body is telling. It is a feeling of peace that so many people find in church, in their relatives, during Christmas, when looking at the stars… And I, I know I can even find it while sitting in a toilet seat or an airplane!
